Network-based WAF

It is a hardware-based firewall and is used to minimize latency as it is installed locally near the application. These are effective but expensive Web application firewall.

Host-based WAF

It may be integrated into the application code itself. This firewall is less expensive than the network-based firewalls. Host-based firewalls are difficult to manage as they require application libraries and are dependent on local server resources to run effectively.
